This Slow Cooker Hawaiian Pulled Pork, aka Kalua Pig, is probably my favorite recipe for pork. It’s reminiscent of the pulled pork you’d enjoy at a luau in Hawaii- it’s salty, smokey, succulent and tender. I just can’t get enough! It’s delicious as is but I look forward to the scrambles and salads (among other things) that can be made with the leftovers. It really doesn’t get much better or simpler than this!
``Quick tip: Don’t add any liquid to the slow cooker...it contains enough fat and moisture already so extra water is unnecessary.``
####Slow Cooker Hawaiian Pulled Pork
Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 10-12 hours | Serves: 6-8
5-6 pounds pork shoulder, boneless<br>
1½-1¾ tablespoons Red Hawaiian salt<br>
2-3 slices uncured bacon<br>
1.) Rub the salt evenly over the pork and place in the slow cooker. Lay the bacon slices over the top and cook on Low for 10-12 hours or until the meat is tender. Take the meat out of the liquid to shred and remove any large pieces of fat.
2.) Save a few tablespoons of the juice in the slow cooker and use it to cook the cabbage, if using. Serve with your favorite sides.
